The Sderot Menorah Project - Bringing Light to the World

The city of Sderot located in southern Israel and less than one mile from the Gaza border, has become one of the most significant national symbols of heroism.
On the rooftop of the Hesder Yeshiva of Sderot, a Kassam Rocket Menorah, made from actual Kassam rockets that fell in Sderot, has become the symbol of responding to terror with the light of Torah, Zionist ideals and Jewish solidarity for Jews all over the world.
Sderot’s brave determination in the face of continuous terror has revealed to the world a model of outstanding courage that sets the tone for the Jewish state.

Picture This

Without warning, an air raid siren blast sends men, women, children and the elderly residents of Sderot running for bomb shelters in the 15 seconds or less allotted before the rocket falls. This can occur at any moment, day or night.  Instead of fear, despair and defeat, we show our enemies how we turn their hate and terror into a source of light, joy and hope. Bomb shelters are built all around the city, including in the parks where children play. Sderot continues to be a beautiful, thriving town imbued with optimism.

THE HESDER YESHIVA OF SDEROT, the largest Hesder Yeshiva in Israel, constructed a rocket proof Beit Midrash to secure the safety of the 500 students who study Torah there. Rocket proof dormitories, classrooms, and a dining hall were constructed , in addition to bomb shelters on campus. Proudly atop the Yeshiva, a Menorah made of Kassam rockets stands as a symbol of dedication and perseverance in the face of a tremendous challenge.

The SDEROT Menorah Project Chanukah 2016/5777

A special opportunity for your community to participate in the dedication of a unique, one of a kind Chanukah Menorah made from the Kassam rockets that fell in Sderot, just like the one that stands on the rooftop of the Hesder Yeshiva in Sderot.
This Menorah will stand outside (or inside) your shul or school to form an everlasting partnership and connection between your community, communities across America and the community of Sderot.
Each night of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights, as we light our Menorahs, the flames of the candles will bring light to the world as a powerful symbol of the ongoing endurance of the Jewish people.
